Match-winner for Hearts against Hibs, Prince Buaben seeking derby pick-me-up for Falkirk against Dunfermline

PRINCE BUABEN earned Hearts a victory in his first-ever Edinburgh derby and is determined to help Falkirk come out on top against rivals Dunfermline on Saturday.

The former Dundee United midfielder netted a penalty in just his third outing for Hearts back in 2014 to see off Hibs 2-1 at Tynecastle.

It was a derby experience he treasures and one that taught him just how much this weekend’s trip to East End Park means to everyone at the Bairns.

He told @CCP_sport: “My favourite derby was when I first played for Hearts against Hibs in the season after I signed.

“I scored a penalty and it was a really good game because we won.

“But derbies are big games wherever they are played. They always mean a lot to the fans and the clubs involved and I know that will be the case in this one.

“The players want to do their best for the fans and I’m sure the boys will give 100 per cent to win this game against Dunfermline.

“It is a massive game and if we can get the win we all want it could kick off our season.”

IMPROVEMENT

Falkirk remain rooted to the foot of the Championship with just four points – and one win – from 12 league games so far in a dismal opening to the season.

However, new manager Ray McKinnon is convinced he has witnessed the makings of a revival in recent weeks, with the Bairns drawing 1-1 with Ross County and only losing out to Ayr United because of a goalkeeping error.

And Buaben, who penned a short-term deal last month, believes he and his team-mates are doing everything they can to turn the corner.

He added: “There’s definitely been an improvement, not just in games but in training as well.

“The boys are putting in a great effort to get the wins we all want and hopefully things will change soon.”
