A CAR valeter has shared hilarious footage of the toughest job of his career – removing hundreds of stickers from a leased car.
Adam Schindler was stunned to find the bodywork and interior of the Smart car “decorated” with more than 200 of the strange silver objects which were attached with very strong adhesive.
The car was due to be returned within days by the customer, who suffers from dementia and faced massive penalties for his customised bodywork.
Adam spent hours prising off the stickers, which were more than an inch thick on the steering wheel. And while his efforts were impressive, his “after” video showed there was still some damage to the motor.
The 29-year-old from Sunderland posted the videos online with the comment: “Have you ever seen anything like this in your life?
“The customer has dementia and designed his car in silver stickers. One problem is it’s due to go back to the leasing company.”
The video starts by filming the back of the car which shows a variety of stickers which are different shapes and sizes, including one that looks like a dragon.
Adam then pans round to the inside of the car where there are silver stickers all over the glove compartment of the car and the radio is also covered in them.
He then moves onto the steering wheel where in parts, the steering wheel itself cannot be seen due to the vast amount of stickers on the wheel.
The film then goes round to the front of the car where there is a large bright silver sticker stuck vertically across the bonnet and around the registration plate.
On social media, Dave Ball said: “Omfg, the steering wheel looks like a Transformer – what a mess.”
Daniel Wheater said: “That would be a walk away job for me.”
Michael Chadwick said: “Needs writing off that, like.”
Kevin Stephenson commented: “Holy cow, that is going to cost him a lost of dosh when it goes back, unless you can do miracles!”
Simon Rodgers said: “Walk away bud as when you pulled that bit on the steering wheel, it took a chunk of the wheel with it.”
Michelle Cole Robertson commented: “Omg good luck with this one.”
Andy Stevens said: “Imagine the airbag in the steering wheel going off!”
Adam, who filmed the clip at Sparkle & Shine Mobile Valeting & Driveway Cleaning in Peterlee, County Durham, said: “First thoughts were ‘wow, never seen anything like it in my life’.
“There was probably over 200 stickers and some had been removed before the video was taken.
“There was two of us there for four hours.”
He added: “The owner of the car has dementia and his daughter needed help to remove the stickers before it went to back to the leasing company.”
