“Struggling with the concept of doorbell” Amazon driver opens disabled man’s door and dumps parcel

A DISABLED Amazon customer has released shocking footage of a delivery driver ignoring the doorbell, opening his front door, and dumping the parcel inside.

Nathan Hill says he specifically asked for the package to be handed to him as he is unable to reach items left on the floor.

But his video shows the driver made no effort to check anyone was at home before opening the door, dumping the delivery, and leaving.

Nathan, a civil servant from Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lancashire, posted the clip with the caption: “Amazon delivery…struggling with the concept of doorbell.

“They don’t ring the bell when your in so why would you expect them to put it in your safe place when you’re out?”

Nathan, who relies on online delivery more than most people, needs delivery drivers to ring the doorbell so he can tell them by intercom to wait for him to collect at the door.

He leaves the door open when he is to make the process easier.

So he was furious Monday afternoon when the delivery driver made no effort whatsoever to use the bell.

In the short clip that was uploaded by Mr Hill it shows a delivery driver wearing a bright hi-vis vest and a grey sun hat holding a big cardboard package that has the Amazon logo and Prime tape.

The courier walks up to the door and moves the package to his left hand side. He then stretches out with his right hand and tries the first door, which is locked.

The delivery driver tries again with the second door and it opens and he walks in and places the package on the floor before closing the door and walking away.

Speaking on Tuesday, October 2, he said: “I feel like I’m being punished for being disabled and that I need to write on the UPVC porch a sign and arrow saying ‘Doorbell’.

“What makes this worse is I’m disabled and currently housebound. I receive lots of delivery from a variety of providers. Amazon’s retail experience is essential for me but let down by their delivery services.”

Nathan has made numerous previous complaints to the firm, many about them failing to use his designated “safe” place, inside his garage.

His pictures show how packages have instead been left outside the house, on at least occasion in the rain. Packages have been left in the bin as well as behind it.

Paul Hans Bennett responded on social media: “What you need Nathan Hill is meals on wheels (lovely brochure packed with delicious food pics) and a regular supply of customer complaints leaflets which when angrily completed, will significantly lower your blood pressure. Doh.”

Kimberley Alice Mowbray said: “My safe place is leave with a neighbor but two times out of five it’s just left behind the bins… seems to be the bigger the box the more in view they leave it.”

A spokesman for Amazon said: “We have very high standards for our delivery service partners and how they serve customers.

“We are investigating this matter.”
