Wigan manager Paul Cook insists the forthcoming clash with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers has captured the imagination of the entire club after Latics fans snapped up over 1,000 tickets for the friendly.
The English Championship newcomers travel across the border to take on the Glasgow outfit at Ibrox on July 29.
Wigan have been handed a 2,448 allocation for the match and Liverpool supporter Cook admits the chance to go up against Anfield legend Gerrard is hugely exciting.
“To pit our wits up there against Steven and his team will be a great day.
“Our fans will travel in great numbers, it’s a great fixture at Ibrox on a Sunday afternoon and it’s got the makings of a great game.
“It’s our last game of pre-season, so hopefully we can go up there to finish our preparations in style before we play Sheffield Wednesday at home.”
