East Meets West With New Path To Unlock Chinese Markets

SCOTLAND’S first dedicated Chinese marketing agency has been set up to help businesses and organisations to take advantage of the huge potential from new markets in China.

The EastWest Agency, which uniquely operates from offices in Edinburgh and China, offers an experienced mix of UK and Chinese digital, marketing and business expertise to offer a deep understanding of this exciting yet complex Chinese market.

The agency aims to offer unprecedented support to break into the new opportunities afforded from China’s booming economy and consumer market, covering key areas such as market research, business strategy and planning, digital marketing, lead generation and sales support.

EastWest has already delivered an important project for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo which provided crucial consumer insight to support their recent announcement to take the Tattoo to China in 2020.

The senior team behind EastWest are Partners Kelvin Chan and Adam Foster. They boast combined decades of experience in the sector with both SMEs and Blue-chip brands.

Founder Adam, who also runs a successful western digital marketing business in Edinburgh, stated the potential for Scottish businesses is truly exciting. Particularly in retail, events, property, education and tourism sectors.

Adam said: “We recognised there was no ‘digital silk road’ offered to Scottish firms and organisations by a dedicated Scottish based agency to help them break-through at a scalable cost into this amazing market.

“By having offices and skilled personnel in both Scotland and China who are fluent in English and Mandarin along with other local dialects, we can provide the strategy, tools and expertise to do business in this 1.4 billion populated country.”

Kelvin Chan added: “We have established trusted partnerships with Chinese tech and creative companies based in Shenzhen to design, build and host Chinese websites, social media sites and apps.

“With this support, one key service we offer is our China market entry package we call ‘Firecracker.’ This is a way to test a first-time commercial journey into China using the latest digital strategies and channels.

“This low-cost package gives new entrants the chance to test the Chinese market without leaving their desks in the UK. Giving them solid business reassurances, before they think about committing to any further scale.”

Right now, EastWest is actively working with Scottish universities, Chinese government departments, western marketing agencies, product manufactures, property companies and tourism-based businesses.

The EastWest team was also behind the hugely successful Blogmanay China campaign in 2016 which secured an unprecedented 22 million views (23% of the total global views of the event) and had Edinburgh’s Hogmanay trending on China’s version of Twitter, Weibo.

EastWest operates out of two bases in China – in Chengdu and Shenzhen and from their office in Edinburgh.
