TWO Scotsmen have are about to embark on one of the UK’s longest cycle routes – wearing their finest frocks.
Eli Forsyth and Isaac Lawton, both aged 20, will pedal from Land’s End to John O’Groats next week, in an agonising 1000-mile journey.
If that wasn’t daring enough, they will also be completing the challenge in drag – a feat they believe has yet to be achieved.
The pair, from the Wester Ross village of Ullapool, are wanting to complete the journey in around 12 days and are fundraising towards Multiple Sclerosis.
Eli says that they decided on doing the cycle in drag as it was something a bit “different”
He said: “We want to eliminate some of the stigma surrounding cross dressing and it’s just a bit of fun.
“Something different than just wearing boring cycling gear”.
Product Design Student Eli says it’s an issue close to their hearts and are desperate to increase awareness.
He said: “Everyone knows someone with it or affected by it and it’s certainly more under the radar compared with other illnesses.
“We intend to raise as much money as possible for Multiple Sclerosis research. It is a cruel condition that, for some reason, is particularly prevalent in the Highlands.”
Their aptly named campaign ‘Two Man Lacey Drag Racey’ begins on June 15 and will involve no vehicle support en route as they will carry all necessary equipment with them.
They will however, be regularly changing their clothing, purchasing different kinds of woman’s clothing they find in charity shops as they travel across the country.
Although the pair will obviously want to beat each other, their main focus is raising awareness and completing the cycle
Isaac said: “It’s all just a bit of fun, so not so much of a race.”
Isaac added: “All donations are welcome and will be hugely appreciated. We are organising this on a shoestring budget, and are still finalising our equipment.
“We are also looking for sponsors of spare bike parts, pannier bags etc, if there are any generous local businesses that want to help out.”
