Rangers fan causes storm after calling club’s autism gesture “supporting spastics”

A RANGERS ‘fan’ has been vilified online after criticising the club’s backing for people with autism as “supporting spastics.”

After the club’s official account posted images of the squad showing support for Scottish Autism by wearing t-shirts during training, the man known only as Thomas replied with the slur.

Fellow fans called him out for the comment, with some even suggesting it may be a fake account with a rival fan behind it.

On Friday, the Glasgow club’s Twitter account shared a collection of pictures which showed the first team training while wearing purple Scottish Autism t-shirts.

They wrote: “Rangers FC continued preparations for tomorrow’s match whilst showing their support for @ScottishAutism at training today.”

Thomas took exception to the kind gesture, replying: “Why we supporting spastics get a f****** grip @RangersFC.”

Angry social media users were quick to tell the man exactly what they thought of his disgusting views.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths’ brother Aaron was among them, saying: “He is a dirty smelly b****** whatever team or race he is how could you slag innocent kids you sick b******.”

Lorna Jeffrey said: “You are a f****** moron, supporting spastics? My little brother is 12 and has autism and probably has more morals, brains and over all decency in his wee pinky than you have in your full body. F****** c***.”

Joe McKenzie said: “Your comments are disgusting and you should be ashamed. @scottishautism are a great cause and I’m proud @RangersFC support them.”

Alan Carmichael said: “Your comment is despicable and highlights your own deficiencies as a decent caring person. Don’t forget you could face physical mental or serious difficulties in your life. I am proud of Rangers support for those who have been diagnosed as autistic.”

Another user said: “Wow. Definitely lowest of the low with that comment.”

While others thought that there might be more to the post than meets the eye, and that the culprit may in fact be a rival fan trying to make Rangers look bad.

Jim Kane said: “How sad do you need to be to set up an account pretending to be a Rangers fan and trying badly to bring negative attention to uus.”

Another said: “Thomas is a Celtic fan who’s set up a Rangers Twitter fan account. I mean there is obsessed then there is this. What a wee mutant.”

Another added: “If you’re Rangers you’re f****** out of order, if you’re Celtic pretending to be Rangers just to point score using autism then your just a f****** brainless f***wit that needs educated. Oxygen stealing b******, kids with autism are no different from anyone else. Scumbag.”

A spokesman for Rangers said that the club would not be commenting on this “nonsense.”
