Bored restaurant boss recreates Star Wars prologues – on food order till

A STAR wars fan and restaurant manager is passing quiet shifts by recreating the movies’ legendary title sequences – on the food order till.

Instead of entering dishes for the chef to prepare, Harry Spicer laboriously types out lines of Star Wars prologue.

He then films the print out as it is created and sticks Star Wars music over the top.

Harry, the assistant manager at the Boat House Cafe, in Swanwick, Hampshire, is a big hit in the kitchen, where chef, Mike Harris, 27, is also a big fan of the movie franchise.

Harry posted his first creation to Facebook with the caption: “The best ticket ever sent to the kitchen printer.”

The photo shows a ticket containing the entire 78-words prologue to Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

He followed that up by posting a video the next day saying: “The saga continues…” This time Harry took a video of the receipt, showing the 80-word prologue to Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

The video plays and Harry runs the phone over the receipt mimicking the technique used by George Lucas when the first movie was released in 1977.

Harry then posted a video of the 75-word opening crawl to Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, again coming out of the kitchen printer.

Harry posted his collection of work on Facebook saying: “I’ve had a productive week”.

Harry told me: “We are both huge fans, however my chef thinks the prequels are the worst. However I think the prequels have a special place as they came out while I was a young kid.”

He continued: “We were rather quiet so I just thought what can I do to make him laugh.

“The idea of the Star Wars scrolls just popped in to my head and I just ran with it. It is quite hard to type on the tills as I am using the ‘kitchen message’ function. So it took me about 15 minutes to type each one.

“I’m planning on working my way through the whole saga.”

Harry received some criticism on social media for reminding people these movies exist. He replied he is “working my way through them” and that “all sagas start somewhere”.

Adam Scott said: “Of all the star wars you chose episode one.”

Bob Mcmanus said: “Why did they do episode one? Any of the originals would have been much better.”

Ryan Gallagher posted: “Chef probably s**t his pants hearing that thing come in. Doing nothing 20 mins later still doing nothing. Suddenly the printer s***s out 18 inches of noise and paper. chef poops pants.”

Jack Matthews said: “I commend the time and effort that went into this.”

Ross McDonald posted: “You spelled galaxy wrong.”

Iain Shields said: “That is the best thing ever sent to any kitchen printer.”

The first set of Star Wars movies came out between 1977 and 1983. They were widely loved and were the inspiration behind many science fiction films to follow.

The prequel trilogy, which came out after the originals but were set before them, were roundly criticised.

Due to the popularity of the originals the prequels were still a financial success when they were released from 1999 to 2005.

On a recent episode of the American television show Saturday Night Live Natalie Portman, a protagonist in the prequels, defended the films.

The films have created generations of obsessed fans. In 2014 a fan revealed that he owned 35,000 pieces of memorabilia.

The father-of-two had been collecting everything he could get his hands on since he was seven and even has one of only five replica lightsabers.
