On the piste: well oiled rookie snowboarder gets dragged up mountain on his back

A ROOKIE snowboarder has been filmed getting dragged up a mountain on his back after refusing to let go of the lift.

Alexander MacFarlane and his friends – who admit they had had a drink or two – kept falling off the lift at the Nevis Range near Fort William last Sunday.

So when the 42-year-old stumbled yet again he grimly clung to the tow and was hauled hundreds of feet up the mountainside with his legs and snowboard in the air.

The hysterical scenes were filmed by Tony Galloway, 32, who laughs infectiously as the chaos unfolds.

The antics of the friends from a gym in Mossend, North Lanarkshire, have now been viewed 600,000 times on social media.

Tony wrote: “Watch Zander get dragged up the hill on his back. What a day boys, no laughed so much since last year’s antics.”

Tony stands at the side of the lift filming and at the start of the clip three of his mates, including Alexander, try and fail to go up, immediately slipping and landing face down in the snow.

More experienced skiers then flawlessly zoom up the hill.

Once they have gone, Alexander bravely stands back up and tries again and Tony says: “On you go mate, you’re away”, but he immediately ends up on his backside again.

Amazingly, the offshore drill supervisor decides to hold on and Tony laughs as he watches him being dragged up the hill. He shouts: “Let go, let go.”

The camera pans back round to catch another member of the group having a go and crashing to the floor.

Tony adds: “Zander’s still holding on”, as he moves back round to capture him being sliding up the snowy incline.

His hilarious laugh continues to the end of the video and he shouts: “Zander’s just getting dragged up the hill”, before adding: “That’s one way to do it.”

It is not clear whether Alexander managed to cling up to the top of the mountain.

Comments flooded in from social media users who were in hysterics.

Iain Orr said: “It’s funny watching people use they lifts. Always someone that f*** it up.”

Helen France said: “I was full on screaming watching this. Brilliant.”

Kat Innes said: “I’ve been wetting myself at this. 100% me if we went on a ski holiday.”

Joyce McCartney said: “Genuinely laughed so so much at this. I know I’d probably be the same as poor Zander there.”

Speaking today (THURS), security business owner Tony said: “It was just a day out with the lads from the gym. Two or three can ski and the rest have no idea what we are doing as you can see in the video.

“I was thinking that dafty should let go. The reaction online has been crazy for a crowd of drunk guys up a hill. It keeps draining my battery with all the notifications.”
