A KINDHEARTED Celtic player has given a young fan the ultimate Christmas surprise by gifting him a pair of goal scoring football boots.
Rising star Jack Aitchison sent Hoops superfan Michael Welsh, 11, the pair of signed boots he wore to score his first goal for the senior team – becoming the clubs youngest ever goal scorer.
The youngster from Fauldhouse, West Lothian, had no idea about the gift and was “left speechless” after unwrapping the present.
The Celtic player, who grew up in the same town as Michael, arranged for his mother Janet Aitchison to deliver the footwear to the young fan.
Along with the golden boots, Aitchison’s gift also included a signed photo of himself and a signed boot bag.
Michael’s auntie Kim McCready posted the adorable video of Michael unwrapping the surprise present on Christmas day.
At the start of the clip Michael is seen opening a card attached to a box wrapped in tartan paper.
He can be heard excitedly saying “Jack Aitchison” as he opens the card and passes it to someone in the room.
Unwrapping the gift and he reads the signed message on top of the box, “To Michael, Merry Christmas. From Jack.”
The orange box contained a signed photograph of Jack celebrating after becoming Celtic’s youngest ever scorer when he scored in Celtic’s seven nil win over Motherwell in 2016.
Underneath the photo is a signed boot bag and, wrapped in red tissue paper, a signed pair of Nike boots with Michael sayin “they’re nice”.
The devoted Hoops fan has been going to Celtic games with his auntie Kim and uncle Joe McCready since he was five years-old.
Tragically Michael’s mum, Anne Marie McCready, passed away when he was just four years-old but she hoped that he would become a Celtic fan one day.
Mrs McCready said: “His mum made us promise he’d always have the best of things and nice clothes and that he’d always follow Celtic. So he’s had a season ticket since he was five.”
She added: “He aims to follow Jack’s career. Wherever it goes. Our Michael is never speechless. He is totally a massive fan. His favourite player is Scott Sinclair.
“We’ve built a scrapbook for him. Every game that he attends, which is every game, we have a stamp and some pictures. So he’ll have something in later life.”
Asked if they were Aitchison’s goal scoring boots: “As far as i know, yes. Jack’s a fantastic person. He’s a cracking wee boy.”
Posting the video on social media, Mrs McCready explained that Michael’s mum, Aitchison’s mum, Janet, were the best friends
Mrs McCrady wrote online: “It’s a week late but decided to post it today as Janet and Michaels Mum would have been going out somewhere in a previous time.
“Great friends through the years and now Janet and her lovely son Jack Aitchison made this a dream come true.
“This left Michael speachless for once. So this was afriendship beyond the grave of his Mum.
“Anne Marie would be grinning from ear to ear not only because he got the boots but because her friends boy plays for the one and only Glasgow Celtic. Thank from the bottom of our hearts, Kim and Joe.”
