A DOPEY bus driver has been caught on camera jumping a red light right next to a police car – which immediately pulls him over.
The jaw-dropping clip shows the First Glasgow driver undertake the marked traffic car and drive through the red at a junction in the city.
Inevitably, the police driver switches on his blue lights and takes off after the bus.
The footage cuts to the officer walking back to his vehicle but it is not known if the bus driver got a ticket or a ticking off.
The incident, at the junction of St Vincent Street and Pitt Street on October 9, was caught on dashcam by a driver known only as Joe.
As the clip begins, the number 2 bus can be seen following a police car ahead as the pair approach a set of traffic lights.
The bus driver appears to slow down but cuts into the left to undertake the police car.
Instead of stopping at the obviously red lights, the driver presses on through the junction.
Driver Joe can be heard saying: “Oh really, right in front of the policeman who’s going to do f*** all.”
The police driver turns on the blue lights and follows the bus across the junction.
His passenger can be heard saying “nice” as Joe bursts into laughter at the bus driver’s instant karma.
The video then cuts to a few minutes later, as the car approaches the now stopped bus with the police car parked behind it.
A policeman can be seen walking back to the vehicle as the dashcam vehicle drives by.
The bus driver then heads off to queue in traffic at the next set of lights.
Joe said today: “There’s no way this driver didn’t see the Police he had to undertake them to jump the lights.
“Hopefully a few wise words imparted and this bus driver will be a little more aware of traffic lights in future.”
A spokesman for road safety campaign group Scotland’s Worst Drivers, who obtained the video, said: “I find it concerning that this driver clearly wasn’t aware of his surroundings otherwise he wouldn’t have taken the risk.
“He chose risk the safety of everyone onboard the bus and I’m astonished he may have got off scot-free.
“This is the second similar incident involving a First Bus within the last week and I seriously urge the group to review their driver training programme before a serious accident occurs.”
Another First Bus driver, filmed on October 2, was caught by Joe overtaking him as he pulled in to a fire engine pass in Glassford Street, Glasgow.
The driver either ignored or failed to spot Joe’s dashcam car pulling over and the fire engine approaching with its sirens and lights on.
The dashcam driver can be heard muttering “Don’t be a pk – there’s a f******* fire engine coming” as the bus overtakes.
However, the bus driver presses on, pulling around the car, and then squeezing in front before braking.
A First Glasgow spokesman insisted their driver had “moved to give way to the fire engine at the earliest opportunity”.
A spokesman for the bus company said: “First Glasgow has been advised of this incident by the police and has taken the appropriate action.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Unfortunately we have not been able to trace the officers involved or identify the vehicle. I can confirm that the bus was stopped and the driver was spoken to, but I don’t know what the out come was. I don’t know if he was given a warning or a ticket.”
