ALEX HARRIS admits Falkirk will be desperate to impress the watching Paul Hartley by kicking off their new manager’s reign with a derby win over Dunfermline.
Harris worked under the Bairns boss during a loan spell from Hibs at Dundee in 2015, when he scored once in 16 appearances, and is relishing teaming up again with the former Celtic and Hearts midfielder.
And he knows he and his team-mates have the ideal opportunity to catch their new gaffer’s eye when Hartley watches the Irn-Bru Cup clash from the stand.
Harris said: “Paul is a manager that I have worked with before. I enjoyed my time with him at Dundee and I am looking forward to working with him again next week.
“We have a chance to impress him this weekend and we’ll be aiming to do that, individually and collectively, with a win.
“It has been a bit of a different couple of weeks, but we just want to continue winning matches, progressing in the cups and getting up the league.
“It’s always a sad time when a manager leaves but you can’t dwell on it too long. As footballers, you’ve always got another game coming up.”
CONFIDENCE
On a personal level, Harris has been in impressive form in recent weeks as Falkirk have struggled, but confesses to a sense of greater satisfaction at finally earning the first league win of the season last weekend against Morton.
He added: “Our confidence was low every game we were going into when we weren’t winning, so to get our first win was great.
“We all worked our socks off and deserved the win in the end. Hopefully the fans can see we are working hard and getting that first league win of the season can only bring confidence.
“It all came together on the day, we earned our win, and hopefully we can get another one against Dunfermline.”
