Tesco customer shrieks and gags as she finds mass of maggots in dog food

VIDEO shows a horrified Tesco customer shrieking and gagging after she discovered maggots in a packet of dog food.

The supermarket has launched an investigation after Kerrie Louise Tate posted the vomit-inducing clip to their Facebook page.

The sights and smells are so bad that a child can be heard crying in the background of Kerrie’s clip.

The mum-of-one from Prudhoe, Northumberland, bought the infested dog food – Tesco’s own brand Tender pate – on Tuesday as part of a 12 packs for £4 deal.

Kerrie bought the food from the Tesco Kingston Park store in Newcastle, for her 5-year-old dog Flossy.

She posted the minute-long video with the caption: “I just opened this to feed my dog. I feel ill and the smell is disgusting!”

The video begins with a foil packet of the dog food sitting on a counter, and 35-year-old Kerrie can be heard saying in disgust: “Oh my god I feel ill.”

Focusing in on the rancid product she continues: “This is from Tesco, just bought on Tuesday, yesterday, and I can’t even touch it it’s disgusting.”

Kerrie sounds close to tears in the video as she peels back the lid, and a small child can be heard crying in the background.

Kerrie shrieks: “It stinks, and it’s got maggots all over it! Ewwww!”

The video appears to show small white maggots scattered across the inside of the lid and all over the rotten food.

A child can be heard in the background saying: “Can you see that?”

Kerrie continues: “Oh my god I feel ill, I feel vile that I’ve nearly put that down to my dog.

“There’s some moving underneath but you can see them inside as well that’s disgusting.

“Oh I’m so sending this to Tesco.”

Kerrie can be heard retching as the video cuts out.

Kerrie nearly fed the infested food to her fiver year old dog Flossy

Speaking yesterday (THU) Kerrie said: “Oh my god, the smell was the worst I have ever smelt. It was worse than sewage!

“It made me wretch badly.

“I’m just pleased it wasn’t my daughter who opened it, she normally feeds the family pets at night.”

Social media users were quick to comment on the post and share their horror.

Debbie Reed Burrrrgh commented: “Awful.”

While Bev Watson Barker said simply: “Disgusting.”

Others suggested her reaction was a bit over the top.

Bonnie Dyer posted a meme of a Llama with the caption: “This looks like a job for….the Drama Llama.”

While Sophie Murden said: “Well since there is no such thing as smell-o-vision, a photo and comment probably would have been enough.”

To which Kerrie replied: “Well you can’t see things move on a photo!”

A Tesco spokeswoman said: “We’re very sorry to hear of this incident and our supplier is investigating how this may have happened. We have offered Kerrie a goodwill gesture and hope to see her in store again soon.”
