Women travel differently: Leonardo Hotels offers the appropriate room product

Women Friendly Rooms at Leonardo Hotels

FEMALE travellers are to get their own special treatment thanks to a unique concept being offered by an upmarket Edinburgh hotel.

The 4-star superior Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh believes their stylish ‘woman-friendly room’ initiative – believed to be first of its kind in Scotland – will prove to be highly attractive to the increasing numbers of professional women who are visiting the city.

The move – pioneered by the German-owned group at its Leonardo Royal-brand hotels across Europe – has been inspired by feedback that businesswomen are no longer attracted by soul-less, corporate-style chain hotels and want rooms that specifically meet the needs of female guests.
Guests can enjoy a host of feminine touches, including powerful, electric hair dryers, beauty lighting, adjustable make up mirrors, fluffy bathrobes and a selection of the latest glossy magazines, all with the aim of ensuring female business, as well as leisure travelers, feel safe and well catered for.

There are also parking spaces dedicated to female guests, which are located next to the hotel entrance.

As an added advantage, the rooms can be booked without a surcharge via the Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh website.

Lucy Basnett, Operations Manager of Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh, said: “The proportion of lone female business travelers is on the rise; indeed every fourth hotel guest is a business woman.

“This is why the Leonardo Hotel group has created women-friendly rooms at their Leonardo Royal hotels, which are specifically oriented towards the needs and wishes of female travellers.

“We wanted to offer accommodation which not only addresses any concerns women travelling alone may have, but also creates a comfortable environment where they can relax after a busy day.

“We have designed the rooms using feedback from female travel agents and travellers to find out exactly what they would be looking for from this style of accommodation, and so far we’ve had a hugely positive response across Europe.

“We are looking forward to the reaction to the rooms at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh.”

The rooms are all located on the same floor and room service is served exclusively by female employees with each door is equipped with a peephole.

Guests will also enjoy a variety of additional luxurious features, including a writing desk, a large flat-screen TV, soft pillows and fresh flowers.

Leonardo Hotels invested more than €7m in the refurbishing the former Premier Inn at Haymarket to open the 282-bedroom Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh in June of this year – creating its first establishment in Scotland.
