A YOUNG Premier league footballer has captured remarkable footage of a strike on the “woodwork” – by a golf ball.
Euan O’Reilly was filming a pal practising his golf swing when he captured the fluke shot on camera.
The unknown golfer strikes the ball which collides with a metal goal post 50 metres away, makes a massive clanging noise, and bounces back to stop a few feet from where it started.
The golfer throws away his club in disgust as Euan, a member of the St Johnstone FC under-20 team, and friends erupt with laughter.
In the video, the golfer carefully lines up his shot and takes the swing. The ball arcs gracefully towards a large field but hits a metal goalpost with a resounding clang.
Incredibly, the ball comes to rest about three feet away from where it started a couple of seconds earlier.
Talking about the clip Euan said: “He wasn’t aiming for the post. He just hit it by chance.”
Since being uploaded online, the short video has received more than 700 retweets and nearly 1,700 likes.
