Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon admits being happy at work and away from football are two of the main reasons why he is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract at Easter Road.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Ladbrokes Premiership trip to Dundee, Lennon has confirmed that talks over fresh terms should reach a successful conclusion in the next 24 hours.

The former Celtic manager has reacquainted himself with that winning feeling at Hibs after guiding the club to last season’s Championship title following an ill-fated spell at Bolton that was plagued by financial turmoil.

Despite still having this term to run on his current deal, the club’s board have decided to take the bull by the horns and Lennon admits he has no hesitation in committing his future to Hibs.

“From a personal point of view it’s a no brainer,” said Lennon.

“I am very happy here, I am really enjoying what I am doing.

“I think I have a good group of players, I work with some very good people above me.

“They have made this job, which is never easy, easier.

“And the support I have had from the Hibs fans has been fantastic since day one.

“Sometimes it is all about job satisfaction, and I am very happy here.

“I enjoy the structure here, the training ground is excellent.

“We have an excellent stadium so the facilities are excellent and that always helps.

“But in the main I have a very good group of players to work with.

“And the board and (chief executive) Leeann Dempster and (head of football operations) George Craig are fantastic to work with as well.

“They have made the transition into the job for me a lot more comfortable.

“I’m very happy with what’s on offer as well. I am very proud to be the manager here, it’s a privilege.

“And it’s one I want to maintain for as long as I want to.”

Having sampled the good and bad of being immersed in the Glasgow goldfish bowl during his time as a Celtic player and manager, Lennon, who now has a base in the east, is also content outside of football.

He added: “Life away from the club is good as well.

“So it ticks a lot of boxes for me, my home is down the road but it’s not a million miles away, either.

“So from a family point of view it’s been very good as well.”
