ROBBIE THOMSON admits the Falkirk players can have no complaints about losing their day off this week in the wake of last weekend’s derby defeat to Dunfermline.
Bairns boss Peter Houston was angered by his side’s ‘soft-as-putty’ performance in the 3-1 loss and ordered double training sessions this week and his squad to come in on Wednesday when they would usually be resting.
But keeper Thomson accepts the Championship title hopefuls have not been anywhere near the standards they should be setting and have to take the consequences.
He said: “You just have to get on with it. It’s their call, they’re the management team. They tell you what to do, and you do it.
“You take it on the chin and get on with it, it’s as simple as that.
“There has been no mumps and moans from any of us, because we know we just have to accept it and work as hard as we can, all geared towards the game on Saturday.
“As a unit, we’re all really professional players and we know those sorts of performances aren’t acceptable and the manager was right to have a go at us.
“Things have been aired this week and it’s all been sorted. Everything’s been said that needed to be said, and now it’s about moving on and focusing on the next match.
“It’s about doing the best we can to raise the performance and get points on the board.”
RECOVER
Falkirk host Thomson’s old club, Queen of the South, tomorrow seeking their first league win of the season.
The Bairns endured the same start last term – winning just one point from their opening three matches – and recovered to finish second, and Thomson is convinced they will bounce back.
The 24-year-old added: “It is disappointing, because all throughout pre-season we were geared towards getting a strong start.
“In the Betfred Cup we were absolutely flying. We played really, really well and that’s why it’s so disappointing in the league.
“But it’s a long season, we are only three games in.
“The same happened last year and we still managed to recover, and I have no doubts we will.”
