A BRILLIANT video shows Britain’s coolest tourist casually bag two sunbeds without breaking out of a gentle stroll.
Michael Moore completely ignored the frantic sunseekers around him and waited before sauntering up to a choice spot at his Majorca hotel.
The 43-year-old from Aylesford, Kent, filmed by his wife, Sarah, from the balcony of their room, then punches the air in mock celebration.
The Moores, on holiday with their two teenage sons Thomas and Jonathan, were shocked to witness fellow Brits knocking each other out of the way during the 8.30am sunbed rush.
The family even heard holidaymakers yelling “that’s my towel!” from their balconies if they spotted rivals trying to sneak in.
Michael proved how silly, pointless and undignified the mad dash is by walking at normal pace to the poolside at the Alua Sun Hotel, Magaluf. The footage clearly shows unstacked sunbeds still available.
Sarah’s footage begins by showing the empty poolside with neat stacks of sunbeds. A security guard can then be seen strolling around to open doors just out of view.
The pool area in the complex is kept locked until half past eight in the morning, to deter holidaymakers from reserving loungers even earlier.
Moments later tourists flood the area, grabbing sunbeds from the top of the pile and throwing them down as they fight for a space.
The video then cuts to an empty poolside half an hour later, with sunbeds reserved by bright beach towels and no tourists in sight.
Mark can be seen walking past the sunbeds wearing a red top, with his own towel thrown across his shoulder.
He looks around, makes a quick assessment and heads straight for two empty beds right beside the edge of the pool.
He then calmly places down his towel, aptly designed with the word ‘reserved’ printed on it, and throws his arms in the air triumphantly to give his wife the thumbs up.
Sarah Moore, 35, a cook, was encouraged to post the video by family members who couldn’t stop laughing after they had seen it.
She said: “We posted it because we hoped other people would find it funny and see how silly it is. My husband went down half an hour later and there were still sunbeds left.
“I think the fact they open it up at half past eight makes people want to rush, although some of them were trying to get the best spots in the sun.
“We weren’t too bothered, there are always spaces near the bar and there’s a beach five minutes down the road too, and that always had plenty of space.”
Sarah’s family were staying at the hotel for the first time and were shocked by the lengths fellow tourists would go to get the perfect spot.
She said: “This happened everyday while we were there, they open the doors at half past eight in the morning and that’s when the mad dash comes out.
“We had a room on the top floor of the hotel and I had no idea what was going. I looked out and I saw all the people rushing for sunbeds and the madness of people running for the best spot.
“All you could hear was the clanking of the sunbeds and people knocking each other out of the way.
“I’ve never experienced anything quite like that.”
