Shocking video captures rat roaming around Wetherspoons pub

HORRIFYING video footage has captured the moment a rat was spotted roaming around a busy Wetherspoons pub.

The clip, captured at the James Watt Wetherspoons in Greenock, Inverclyde, shows the rat scurrying around one of the dark leather booths on the premises.

The nine-second clip was uploaded to Facebook today (WED) after the rodent was spotted in the popular pub.

The recording starts as the rodent scurries along the seat of the deserted booth before abruptly stopping.

It stands up slightly, as if it’s about to jump onto the wooden table in front of i.

Instead however, it jumps down below the table onto the carpet and disappears from sight into the shadows.

Facebook users were quick to point out their disgust at the rat’s presence.

One social media user wrote: “I don’t eat out of there but i’ll never drink in there either, f*** that!”.

Another commented: “Boak.”

One added: “Oh my god, that’s vile.”

While another simply said: “Hope this doesn’t affect the pitchers though!”

Wetherspoons spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “There has been some demolition work taking place in the area and, as a result, rats are a common problem on the high street at the moment.

“A single rat literally walked in the open front door of the pub. The pub closed early at 10pm and the area was cleaned.

“Our pest control team have been working in the pub this morning and confirm that there are no issues. They will return to check the situation again next week.

“The pub is open and trading as usual. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”
