HIBS boss Neil Lennon insists he is going to give Jermaine Pennant plenty of time to land a contract after the former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder scored in Thursday’s 4-0 friendly win over Dunfermline.
The 34-year-old was given a run out at East End Park as a trialist and hit the post with a 30-yard free kick before adding to Danny Swanson’s first half opener with a close range finish in the 58th minute.
Pennant spent the second half of last season at Bury following a stint in Singapore and Lennon admits he has been impressed with the attacking midfielder so far.
Lennon said: “Jermaine has got good ability and has trained very well since he’s been in.
“I wanted to have look at him and he’ll feature at some stage on Sunday against Sunderland, maybe even Tuesday against Berwick.
“We’re going to have a good look at him over three or four games before we make a decision on it.
“People talk about age but at 34 he’s still got two or three years in him, he’s had an exceptional career and he’s a good personality but it’s early days before we make a division. He has done very well so far and I’m very pleased with him.”
