ANDY MURRAY may not have been enjoying the best of times on the tennis court lately but has managed to win another trophy – by beating his brother at fantasy football.
The 30-year-old Wimbledon champion has been struggling for form lately but managed to beat off older brother Jamie to the fantasy football title thanks to goals from Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Fantasy football is an online game enjoyed by millions around the world where players update their football teams weekly with points scored dependent on the form of the players in real-life.
If a football player scores or assists or even just plays a game, then point will be awarded to any fantasy football team they appear in.
And despite crashing out of the Italian Open in the early rounds recently, Wimbledon champion Murray had reason to celebrate after his online football success.
Posting yesterday (MON) on Instagram, Murray shared an image of him and his brother with the trophy and wrote: “Our fantasy football league came down to the last day of the season between me and Bro! Thanks to @harrykane for helping me pip my big Bro @jamie__murray at the finish. #pip #braggingrights.”
The photo shows Andy and Jamie both biting the tiny trophy for the fantasy football triumph and has been liked over 43,000 times.
Murray’s success was helped by England star Harry Kane who scored seven goals in the final two games of the season to gain a bumper load of points for the tennis star’s fantasy team.
Instagram users were quick to react to the funny image.

Clalavelle commented: “Haha, love this photo. Having a sibling is awesome.”
Whilst Alitremlett7 added: “Love that. Get up for the French Open Andy.”
Murray will be looking to improve his form as the world number one heads into the second grand slam of the year at the French Open.
Last year, he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final but not since Pete Sampras in 1999 has a number one ranked player had a worse start to the year with Murray’s win percentage standing at just over 70%.
