SCOTLAND defender Charlie Mulgrew insists Blackburn’s “devastating” relegation from the Championship is the lowest point of his career.
Mulgrew, 31, scored a spectacular free-kick as Rovers claimed a 3-1 Brentford on Sunday – however they still suffered the ignominy of dropping into League One by virtue of an inferior goal difference to Mark Warburton’s Nottingham Forest.
He said: “Everyone is gutted. We’re devastated and it’s hard to speak.
“We thought if we won our last two games then we would have a right chance and that’s what we did, but it wasn’t enough. The season is about 46 games and overall it wasn’t enough.”
Speaking to Blackburn’s official website, Mulgrew added: “We need to bounce back and that’s all we can do.”
