HEARTS will say a fond farewell to their iconic Main Stand in front of a sell-out crowd at Tynecastle this weekend.
Sunday’s showdown against Aberdeen is the Jambos’ final home match of the season and will be the last time supporters enter the 103-year-old structure, designed by famed architect Archibald Leitch, before it is razed to the ground.
It will be replaced by a new £12 million grandstand, complete with modern hospitality facilities, additional office space and a roof terrace, which will increase Tynecastle’s capacity to 20,099. That is due to open in September.
And fans have flocked to snap up tickets for the historic occasion, with the final batch of briefs expected to be officially shifted by Thursday.
Aberdeen, who arrive in Gorgie knowing just one win is required to secure second spot in the Premiership, are also set to sell their entire allocation as the Red Army invade the capital in numbers. Factoring in segregation, the attendance is likely to be around 17,000.
