Hibs head coach Neil Lennon insists the future is bright at Easter Road after being blown away by 17-year-old midfielder Fraser Murray’s league debut.
The teenager was named man of the match in Wednesday’s 3-2 Championship victory over Raith Rovers after impressing for 88 minutes before making way for 18-year-old left back Sean Mackie, who also made his maiden appearance for the club.
Scott Martin, 20, made his fifth outing of the season alongside Murray and Lennon, who made ten changes for the visit of Rovers, is delighted with the progress the youngsters are making.
“He’s only 17, I thought he was older than that actually. To have a debut as accomplished as that at 17 is very, very good.
“I thought he handled everything really well. With a bit of luck he could have scored but his all round game was excellent.
“I thought Scott Martin and Fraser were outstanding against Raith and it augurs well.
“Scott’s been around it and he deserved his opportunity and Fraser, we felt, has real talent and he showed that on Wednesday night.
“I’m really pleased with the talent coming through. Oli Shaw and Ryan Porteous would have been around it but they were loaned out. Young Sean Mackie comes on and makes his debut too.”
