Wee Jay celebrates Old Firm win with Martin Compston

SCOTTISH actor Martin Compston was able to celebrate Celtic’s Old Firm victory in style on Sunday by meeting superfan Jay Beatty.

The Line of Duty actor was at Hampden on Sunday to watch the Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Rangers, which the Hoops won 2-0.

Ahead of the match, Compston, 32, met “Wee Jay” and shared a photo of the two of them on Twitter standing outside the stadium.

Jay, 13, captured the hearts of the Parkhead faithful when Hoops hero Georgios Samaras picked him up and carried him round the pitch as the team celebrated their league title in 2014 and is now an ambassador for the club.

Compston shared the snap with his 70,000 Twitter followers and wrote: “Who’s the first face you see at the stadium? The ambassador of course, the legend that is wee Jay.”

The photo has already been retweeted over 390 times with a further 3,200 likes.

Compston gives the camera a big thumbs up as he stands with his arm around ‘Wee Jay’, who’s holding is faithful companion, “Hoopy” his cuddly toy dog.

Twitter users have been quick to comment on the picture of the two passionate Celtic fans.

Greig wrote: “Two legends.”

Brian Kelly commented: “Top Bhoy Jay with top actor Martin.”

Whilst Chris Barker added: “So you got to meet the biggest legend today, Wee Jay.”

Compston is currently starring in hit BBC drama ‘Line of Duty” as DS Steve Arnott, alongside fellow stars Thandie Newton and Vicky McClure.

The Scottish actor has also starred in films such as Filth and The Wee Man, where he played notorious Glasgow gangster Paul Ferris.
