JAMIE MURPHY insists Brighton’s wild promotion party will live with him forever – after the former Motherwell star celebrated their rise to the Premier League by crowd-surfing on a train.

The 27-year-old climbed from the bench to tee up the Seagulls’ winning goal in Monday’s 2-1 triumph over relegation-threatened Wigan.

That ensured Chris Hughton’s side returned to the top-flight for the first time in 34 YEARS, and the players were hailed as heroes following a sensational campaign.

Murphy was at the heart of the festivities, catching a train back into town with delirious punters alongside teammates Jiri Skalak and Oliver Norwood. The trio took turns to crowd-surf down the carriage in extraordinary scenes.

The celebrations then spilled on to West Street in the centre of Brighton.

“We did it,” Murphy tweeted. “Days like this might not come around very often, enjoy it. “From celebrating with the boys, to crowdsurfing the train, to being carried down West St by the fans. A day I will never forget.”
