The Sick Kids Friends Foundation (SKFF) will be hosting its annual Family Fun Day this Saturday at the Gyle centre.
For the past six years, the SKFF have enjoyed fundraising success from this popular day, where families are encouraged to join in the fun in a bid to raise money for the charity.
The event is held every year on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, and will run from 10am to 4pm with a number of exciting activities on throughout the day.
Those who attend will be treated to a host of fun and games, including a toy tombola, face painting and gifts for sale. There is also a craft station where children are encouraged to get creative and design their very own Mother’s Day cards and gifts. The proceeds and donations all go towards helping support their work in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
The event will also host the perfect soundtrack as the Sick Kids Choir- an ensemble made up of doctors, parents, staff and volunteers- will be doing two lunch time performances all in support of the event.
Sue Diamond, Community Fundraising Manager at SKFF, said: “We are really looking forward to our day at the Gyle this Saturday as it’s an event everyone can enjoy!
“Our volunteers will be working hard to make sure that there is lots for everyone to get involved in.
“We are hugely grateful to The Gyle Shopping Centre and their customers as this event allows us to generate necessary funds to ensure children and young people’s experience of hospital can be transformed.
“We’d love to see as many of you there as possible for a day of fun filled activities!”
It takes lots of helping hands to run such an event, but luckily 20 volunteers will be there throughout the day to make the event possible. These volunteers include Caroline Kerr, who has been volunteering for the SKFF for four months, will be there to support the event with her daughter Honor, aged 12, and the pair are looking forward to it and enjoying some mother and daughter fun as well as contributing to the work of the charity.
The Family Fun Day is a special event on the SKFF calendar and last year recorded a fundraising total of over £2,000. This money is used to support the vital work of the charity helping to fund cutting edge equipment, research and services which allow them to make such a difference to those children and families using the hospital.
The Family Fun Day will take place from 10am-4pm on Saturday the 25th of March at the Gyle Shopping Centre.
