PETER HOUSTON has confessed Falkirk’s title hopes will be over if they lose to Hibs on Saturday.
The Bairns sit seven points adrift of the league leaders and know a victory at Easter Road could spark a late charge for top spot.
But, having played a game more and with only six matches left after this weekend, Houston accepts that a 10-point deficit would leave his side with too much ground to make up.
With Morton on the same points as Falkirk and enjoying two games in hand on them, even a draw may be of little use to the Bairns, who Houston insists will head for the capital with victory in mind.
He said: “If we were to lose would that be too big a gap? Probably.
“So, we’ll go there and be as positive as we can, and our away record is decent.
“We know we’re going to play against a really good side, on their day, and I’ve seen them on their day be very good.
“So, we have to go and be nice and solid and tight, but also I think the way to win games is to attack teams.
“I always play with two strikers in this division and we always try to score goals.
“We’re the highest scorers in the league this season, which tells that we go and try to score goals.
“We just need to make sure we lock that door at the back.”
ROCKING
Falkirk are undefeated in their last six matches away to Hibs in a sequence going back to 2009.
Their last five trips to Easter Road have ended in draws and they played for 65 minutes with just 10 men after Tom Taiwo was red-carded in November, when Hibs needed an equaliser seven minutes from time in a 1-1 stalemate.
Houston added: “It’s a ground that has been good to Falkirk, certainly since I’ve been back at the club.
“We’ve had wee breaks at times, and wee bits of luck, and we’ve had some good play as well. It will need to be the exact same this week.
“I never set the team out to get a draw from a game, I always set them out to win games.
“And we’ll go to Easter Road on Saturday and hopefully get them rocking, like Dumbarton did and other teams have earlier on in the season.”
