Hibs head coach Neil Lennon insists his side’s next two games against title rivals Falkirk and Morton will have a huge bearing on whether they are going to take the chequered flag in the Championship.
Lennon was furious after his side were held to a fourth draw from six league matches in Saturday’s 2-2 stalemate with part-time outfit Dumbarton, even though they ended up extending their lead at the summit to seven points.
Falkirk are second on goal difference ahead of Morton but Ton have a game in hand on their Easter Road counterparts.
He said: “The next two games will more or less define things for us and I’m sure the mind set of the players will be a lot better than it was against Dumbarton.
“If we win the next two games then we should be in a really good position, that’s the intention but I’m fed of emphasising how to approach games and start games.
“Maybe it’s a point more towards the title.”
Lennon read the riot act to his players after they fought back to secure a point in the 1-1 draw at Raith Rovers on February 18 and was just as angry after they twice had to come from behind to earn a share of the spoils against the Sons.
A lacklustre first half performance, which saw Hibs trailing to Christian Nade’s penalty, was all the more disappointing following the manner of the victory against promotion rivals Dundee United eight days earlier.
Lennon added: “They have to be more consistent because I’m fed up of watching that at home.
“It be might lapses of concentration, maybe there is not enough intensity for them in that atmosphere but they’ve got to create that themselves.
“They seem to be able to let the malaise set in, maybe because there is not a big crowd at times. They switch off and it’s not good enough.
“It’s too inconsistent for my liking from players who were terrific against Dundee United.
“They were intense then they’re making basic errors against Dumbarton that come from nowhere.
“It’s not the end of the world, I was pleased with the amount of chances we created in the second half although I was annoyed at the amount of chances we missed.”
