ROBBIE NEILSON believes Peter Pawlett is ready to take the “next step” in his career by joining MK Dons.
The former Hearts boss has swooped to sign the Aberdeen winger on a pre-contract and he will officially join the League One outfit on a two-year deal in the summer.
Pawlett heads to England following a decade in Scottish football, making more than 200 appearances for the Dons and St Johnstone.
And Neilson believes he is ready to make an impact south of the border next term.
“Peter feels it’s time for him to make that next step,” said Neilson. “Hopefully we can provide the platform for him to do that.
“I’m looking forward to getting him down here next season. He’s had a really good career in Scotland and played a lot of games at a real high level.”
Pawlett has scored three goals in 18 appearances this term, but has largely been a bit-part player for Derek McInnes’ side.
Pawlett told MK Dons’ official website: “I think it’s the right time in my career to come down to England. As soon as I heard of the interest [from MK Dons], I knew that this was where I wanted to be. The ambition and potential here is huge so hopefully I can come here next season and we can really progress.”
