Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer insists Ian Black is a winner who will not tolerate any nonsense after signing the former Rangers midfielder on a deal until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has moved to the English League Two outfit after ending his 18-month stint at Shrewsbury last month.

The Seasiders have recruited Black, a Scottish Cup winner with Hearts in 2012, after former Dundee midfielder Jim McAlister was ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken leg.

After watching his side throw away a two goal lead in the weekend’s draw with Crewe, Bowyer reckons Black’s attributes will bolster Blackpool’s play-off hopes.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Bowyer said: “I know exactly what Ian will give us. He’s a winner and he won’t stand for what we saw against Crewe.

“Jim is out for the season, so obviously we’ve had to bring someone in who’s going to bring the same fighting qualities to us.

“I can’t wait for Ian to start working for us and I look forward to seeing him get stuck in.”
