Nadir Ciftci insists he is delighted to be reunited with ‘brother’ and former Dundee United team-mate Jaroslaw Fojut after joining Pogon Szczecin on a loan deal from Celtic until the end of the season.
Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers allowed the Turkish forward to leave for Poland having only used the 25-year-old in four games this season.
In making the switch, Ciftci has linked up with close friend Fojut, whom he played alongside at Tannadie during the 2014/15 campaign, and is delighted to see a familiar face in the changing room.
“He looked after me and I looked after him, but he was obviously older.
“We have a very good connection with each other so I am looking forward to working with him as well.
“I am very happy to be here and hopefully I can give the fans and the team everything I can.
“I’m very excited, it’s going to be something new for me, a new challenge. I’m ready for it and hopefully the fans are ready to.”
Centre half Fojut insists the arrival of his friend is a signing coup for Pogon.
He said: “I am glad Nadir has joined us, he has the necessary skills to make a difference in the Polish league.
“I was even a little surprised, but it is good that Nadir did not want to sit on the bench at Celtic and that he prefers to play.”
