AN impatient driver has been caught on camera dodging a queue at traffic lights – by using the pavement.
The dash cam clip shows a queue of cars at a set of temporary traffic lights but one motorist seems unwilling to wait.
The Skoda can be seen mounting the kerb and driving along the pavement.
With all four wheels on the path, he travels around 10m, before eventually turning left at the lights, into a side street.
The clip, which was posted on the ‘Idiot Drivers on Our Roads’ Youtube channel, was recorded in Liverpool on Friday.
It was posted with the caption: “The Skoda driver can’t wait a few seconds now to get down this street, so on the pavement he goes.”
Social media users were shocked at the clip.
Paul Rudge, who took the footage on his vehicle’s dashcam said: “It was quite a surprise. I usually get overtaken there queuing at those road works.
“But to see him driving on the pavement shocked me, I wish I could have made his plate out.”
On Facebook, Deb Lowe wrote: “Impatient idiot. “hat is wrong with people, they are always in such a rush to get places.”
Whilst Simon Alexander added: “Taxi as well by the look of it.”
Under the Highways Act, motorists, must not drive on or over a pavement, footpath or bridleway “except to gain lawful access to property, or in the case of an emergency.”
A fixed penalty notice can be issued with the offender given a ticket with fine and points attached.
