St Mirren manager Jack Ross insists the Scottish Cup can help breathe life into the Buddies’ dismal Championship campaign.
The Paisley outfit turn their attention to Saturday’s fifth round clash at League One side East Fife following a frustrating run of results that have left the Saints seven points adrift at the bottom of the table.
St Mirren are also in Irn-Bru Cup semi-final action against The New Saints the following weekend and Ross is eager for his side to build momentum from these two matches ahead of their return to league action in a relegation scrap against Ayr United on February 25.
Ross, speaking to stmirren.com, said: “We had a meeting as a group last Thursday and we broke our season down into three games at a time, and we can’t differentiate between them because the one thing we haven’t been able to do is build momentum at any point.
“If you look at our last nine or ten games, we’ve only lost three but we’ve drawn a lot of them and we’ve not won enough.
“We need to create momentum so these two cup games offer us a chance to win games, to win next week and the week after.
“We just need to create that run that we’ve not managed to do so far. My drive is to try and drag this club forward.”
