Falkirk manager Peter Houston dedicated Saturday’s 2-0 victory over derby rivals Dunfermline to Fraser Aird after revealing that the winger missed the game due to the untimely death of his dad.
The Bairns cruised to a convincing victory courtesy of John Baird and Lee Miller strikes on Saturday afternoon as the former Rangers player attended father Bill’s funeral in Canada.
And despite mourning the loss of his dad, Houston admits the 22-year-old also took time out to send a pre-match message.
“He’s back in Canada and I think the funeral was today – that’s for Fraser.
“The boys were really upset for him. His dad must have been a young man because Fraser is only 22.
“When you lose your father at 22, that’s hard. He actually text me today, on the day of his dad’s funeral, and said: ‘keep it going gaffer, I wish you all the best’.
“That victory is for Fraser today.”
