Troll deletes Facebook account after posting sick Fernando Ricksen song lyrics

A FACEBOOK troll has been blasted by football fans after posting sick song lyrics about terminally ill Rangers legend Fernando Ricksen.

The vile post appeared on Alistair Findlay’s Facebook account yesterday and mocked the ailing Dutch star who suffers from motor neurone disease.

The highly offensive lyrics, to the tune of Norman Greenbaum’s famous 1969 hit, Spirit in the Sky, read: “When I look up to the sky, Fernando Ricksen is going to die.

The lyrics were posted on Alistair Findlay’s Facebook page.

When he dies and you’d lay him to rest, I’m gonna sniff an ounce of prop right off his chest.”

The posts was immediately shared across social media and posted on the Ranger on Tour Facebook page where it received thousands of shocked messages.

Mark Robertson said: “Should be ashamed of himself. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone, not even the opposition side.”

Steven Johnston wrote: “F***ing wee a**ehole. God bless Fernando. Hail hail.”

And Arr Puu said: “Nothing but utter disgust for this piece of crap.

Angered football fans blasted the Scot for the vile post

“ I am a decent law abiding person who would never condone that sort of speech and would normally feel sorry for anyone that has said something and then been genuinely sorry for their mistake, but this guy somehow does not deserve a second chance.

“A total embarrassment to his family and his own people.”

Findlay, believed to be from Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire, deleted the post after receiving a massive backlash from outraged football fans with some even threatening his family.

An apology was later posted on his page owning up to the disgusting poem and blaming the incident on being “intoxicated”.

He said: “You know what I’m done with all the hassle. My family getting threats, my ex partner and my son.

“Last night I was heavily intoxicated and probably made the biggest mistake of my life, one that’s changed my life and made me realise what a few words can do harm.

“Being drunk was no excuse and I get that I should have know right from wrong but I didn’t and made a silly stupid mistake.

“Deep down I know whatever I say won’t change it and an apology still won’t sort things but I’m sick of the lying etc. I need to tell the truth, yes I did make the remarks about Fernando and you don’t understand how deeply apologetic I am.

“Football is all good having banter etc but last night I took it a step too far.

“This will live with me for the rest of my life knowing what I says about this ill man, who may I add is one of the best fighters about.

“The determination he has to get on with his life etc. I always respected Ricksen in everything he has done. I’ve never hated the man ever. I post about him when times are hard when he met Jay etc it broke my heart.

“Also Fernando had a big operation and I would like to wish him well in a speedy recovery and hopefully he will be fit to attend the legends match.

“Anyway, cut a long story short, to Fernando and his family, to all the Rangers support, Celtic support and all the football family, I am deeply sorry for the remarks I made last night.”

Findlay’s account has since been removed on Facebook.

Today he claimed to have taken the extraordinary step of handing himself into the police.

Posting from his old Facebook account, he said: “I can’t apologise enough for my actions nothing I can do will stop the hurt I have caused Fernando and my own family.

“I have now spoken with the police and they will be coming to see me as I have came forward and owned up to my actions.”

“I owned up to my actions this will live with me for the rest of my life and I will never live it down.

“I didn’t just delete it when there was a backlash, I deleted it after ten minutes because I realised what I wrote and what I had done wrong.

“Nothing can change what I done but I am severely apologising to the football family out there.”

Police Scotland todayconfirmed they were investigating the matter but confirmed no arrests had been made.

A spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the matter and looking into it.”
