Rangers & Mark Warburton will turn Emerson Hyndman into a star, insists Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe

BOURNEMOUTH boss Eddie Howe reckons Emerson Hyndman’s loan stint with Rangers will turn him into an English Premier League star.

The American midfielder, who joined the Cherries from Fulham last summer, has been a stand-out since arriving at Ibrox, turning in three all-action displays and scoring against Motherwell and Hearts.

Indeed, the 20-year-old’s performance at Tynecastle on Wednesday evening was the only bright spot on a miserable evening Mark Warburton’s side – and the decision to substitute him on the hour-mark was roundly jeered by the visiting supporters.

And Howe has no doubt that the intensity of life in Glasgow will toughen Hyndman up and ensure he is ready to battle for a first-team place at the Vitality Stadium next season.

Howe told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: “Emerson has huge potential to be a very good player for us over a number of years. To get to that point we felt he needed to play games.

“The reason behind the Rangers move was twofold. The size of the club and the experience he will gain up there, in terms of the pressure environment and the amount of people watching him, we felt would be really good for him.

“We also felt working with Mark Warburton would do him the world of good. I’ve got a lot of time for Mark since his work at Brentford and how he coaches.

“There has been a lot of thought behind the move and I think he will come back a better player for it.”
