Falkirk manager Peter Houston has refused to rule out a move for Rangers winger Fraser Aird.

The Bairns have been linked with the Canada internationalist after the player’s season-long loan spell with Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS came to an end last October.

Houston has space to bolster his squad after the wages of John Rankin were freed up a fortnight ago when the experienced midfielder made the switch to Queen of the South.

Although having mainly been deployed as a right back in his 18 appearances for the Whitecaps, Aird can also play in a wide midfield role and the 21-year-old appears to fit the profile of what Houston is looking for.

When asked about Aird in an interview with Falkirk TV, Houston said: “It’s no secret I feel we could do with something right-sided, a player who has a bit of pace.

“There’s options without me saying just now because there’s nothing done.

“There are options there for me to bring one player in and I’m sure before the end of the window and as quickly as we can, we’ll have that player in.”
