DUMBARTON have snapped up Raith Rovers striker Lewis Vaughan on loan until the end of the season.
Vaughan, 21, emerged as one of the brightest prospects at Stark’s Park in the 2014/15 campaign, bagging seven goals in 29 games, including a crucial winner against Hibernian.
However, he made just two appearances for the Rovers last term after suffering a devastating cruciate knee ligament and has struggled to cement a first-team place this season.
Vaughan has scored just two goals in 17 outings and, following the arrivals of Ryan Hardie and Ryan Stevenson, Rovers boss Gary Locke has chosen to farm him out on loan to Dumbarton, who are just four points behind the Fifers in the Championship.
Vaughan, who yesterday also agreed to extend his deal at Stark’s Park until the summer of 2018, becomes the Sons’ second signing of the January transfer window following Christian Nade’s arrival from Stranraer earlier this week.
He will go straight into the squad to face Morton on Saturday.
