MORTON have been given a boost ahead of Saturday’s clash with Queen of the South after promising youngster Jon Scullion penned a new contract at Cappielow.
The 21-year-old has been on the books in Greenock since signing from fierce rivals St Mirren in the summer of 2014, scoring four goals.
His deal was set to expire at the end of this month, however boss Jim Duffy has moved swiftly to secure Scullion, who has made seven appearances this term, until June 2017.
Scullion told gmfc.net: “You’re always nervy when your contract is coming up for renewal, anxious more than anything to get a new deal.
“My hope was to get another deal and stay here. I really like it and the gaffer has been brilliant with me.
“What I need to do now is try and take my form from the Under-20s into the first-team and try and push on and put myself in the gaffer’s thoughts.”
