Hearts head coach Ian Cathro adamant he feels Jambos’ pain after underwhelming afternoon at Tynecastle

IAN CATHRO has assured Hearts supporters that he shares their frustration after his Tynecastle bow ended with a cacophony of jeers.

The Jambos made their feelings known following an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Partick Thistle, with Sean Welsh restoring parity after Bjorn Johnsen had scored the first goal of the Cathro era.

The Jags also struck the post through Callum Booth, while Jack Hamilton made wonderful saves to deny Chris Erskine and Kris Doolan, as the hosts completely lost their way in the second period.

There was also dissent in the crowd when Johnsen – November’s Premiership player of the month – was replaced by Tony Watt, with a chorus of boos greeting that decision.

Cathro said: “We all feel the same reaction . . . but I can’t boo the team! I need to help them find the solution, but our reactions are all the same.

“We feel the same way, it’s understandable but I know everyone will stay together.

“I’m not happy. The players didn’t get what they wanted and they’re not happy. So [the booing] is just the voicing of that and that’s normal.

“I’ll be far more upset if we ever get to the stage where we’re happy with a draw. I never want us to be happy with a draw at home, because we expect to win.”
