Runaway Premiership leaders Celtic are already half-way to equalling last season’s points tally after only 15 games.

And Brendan Rodgers’ side are on course to set a new points record since the top-flight became a 12-team set-up in 2000.

With 14 victories and a draw from 15 matches, Celtic are averaging 2.86 points per game and if they continue that form, they could amass a new high of 109, beating the 103 points collected by Martin O’Neill’s team in 2002.

Tuesday’s victory over Hamilton has left the Hoops on 43 points and they are seven points better off than they were at this stage last term.

Celtic picked up the top-flight title in 2016 after amassing 86 points from a total of 38 matches.

The Parkhead club also created history against Accies after going 19 domestic games without defeat, surpassing O’Neill’s record from the 2000/01 campaign.
