DUNFERMLINE manager Allan Johnston was thrilled with his side’s 2-1 win over Morton, which moved them up to seventh in the Championship.

He said: “It was a real team performance.

“Obviously, life got made even more difficult by conceding a penalty in the first five minutes.

“We’ve looked at it again and it was outside the box. It seems to be that decisions are going against us just now.

“But, thankfully, we got a bit of luck and Sean makes the save.

“But it was clearly outside the box and the linesman’s got to help out the referee there – he’s in a good position.

“It puts you under pressure right from the start.

“I don’t want to come here and criticise referees after every game but they’re big decisions and you can’t afford to get them wrong. You have to be 100 per cent sure to give a penalty.

GOALS

“We responded well. Moff scored two typical striker’s finishes – really instinctive – and it was great for him to get the goals.

“There were a couple of others that were so unlucky not to go in. Nicky Clark had a couple of efforts and Moff had another couple – I don’t know how the keeper managed to get to the header.

“There were a lot of positives – and then we lost the goal just before half-time.

“He escaped a couple of challenges and we could probably have done a lot better.

“But the boys showed a lot of character in the second-half and defended a lot better, and, I thought, deservedly won the game.

CHANGE OF LUCK

“I think so. Sometimes that’s what happens when things aren’t going your way, you lose penalties and big decisions like that referees can’t afford to make mistakes.

“But I thought the boys were excellent. I’m delighted to get the win and now we push on.

“We did say this was a crucial period and there’s still another five or six massive games over the festive period coming up.

“So, it’s really important we string a run of results together.

“It’s really close in the league. It’s seven points to fourth and St Mirren winning as well makes the league really tight.

“It’s really competitive and we’ve just got to concentrate on ourselves. If we keep playing like that, with the movement up front and the quality we’ve got, then hopefully we can build on this result.”
