St Mirren boss Jack Ross wants his team to be ‘relentless’ following maiden victory

St Mirren manager Jack Ross has told his players to be relentless as they bid to climb away from the Championship basement in the wake of their first win of the season.

The Buddies picked up their first three points at the 15th attempt when they twice came from behind to beat Queen of the South 3-2 on Tuesday evening.

The victory moves the Paisley outfit to within six points of Dunfermline and former Alloa boss Ross is now targeting a consistent run of form ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Raith Rovers.

He said: “Getting that first win is important because it drives us closer to teams in the table, this was a game in hand for us. it’s a great starting point but that’s all it is and we have to be relentless.

“It’s a cliche but it gets that monkey off our backs, it stops people talking about it and the motivating factor is that people have been writing us off.

“Performances have been better and there are players that are playing in a way that is hugely encouraging. And if they keep doing it, these results will keep coming.”
