Hearts striker Tony Watt insists the club’s supporters have only seen ’30 per cent’ of what he can offer after conceding that he has not been happy with his recent performances.
The former Celtic marksman, who is on loan at Tynecastle from Charlton, was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 thrashing of Motherwell and has only scored one goal in 14 appearances so far this term.
Watt could find himself warming the bench again in tomorrow’s visit of Rangers but the 22-year-old recognises that he needs to rediscover his form following a promising start to his Hearts career.
Watt said: “It’s been great here so far but I have to be honest and say I’ve not been pleased with my performances recently.
“I’ve not been playing to the standard that I know I’m capable of.
“The fans haven’t seen the best of me, I’d say they’ve only seen about 30 per cent of what I can do. I’m working really hard to improve my game.
“I need to get on the ball more and attack more often. Getting myself higher up the park is also something I need to work on.
“I don’t think I’ve been playing badly, it’s just more a case of being more consistent.
“I set myself high standards. I think I gave the fans a taste of what I’m capable of at the start of the season and I’m determined to get back to those performances.
“I’d like to add some goals and assists. I’ve not been shooting as much as I’d like to so that’s something I need to work on.”
