FOUR pitch inspections are planned for Saturday morning as the wintry weather threatens to play havoc with the Scottish Cup third round.

Four matches fell victim to the cold snap on Friday when the matches between Albion Rovers and Queen of the South, Beith Juniors and Morton, Clyde and Arbroath, and St Mirren and Spartans were all postponed.

An inspection at Mosset Park gave Forres Mechanics’ meeting with Stenhousemuir the go-ahead, whilst Formartine United against Annan Athletic was another expected to survive.

However, referees will be out early on Saturday morning to check on a quartet of pitches as the big freeze threatens to wipe out half of the scheduled ties.

The games between Bonnyrigg Rose and Dumbarton, Brechin City and Ayr United, East Fife and Edinburgh City, and Stirling Albion and Wick Academy will all be subject to inspections.

The ties called off at Albion Rovers and St Mirren have been rearranged for Tuesday, whilst Beith and Morton will try again next Saturday, and Clyde and Arbroath on Tuesday, December 6.
