DUNFERMLINE are waiting to hear how long Ben Richards-Everton will spend on the sidelines after the defender underwent a knee operation on Monday.
The former Partick Thistle stopper has been out of action since the 3-1 defeat to Hibs four weeks ago after damaging knee ligaments.
The Pars were hopeful the 25-year-old would be able to return without surgery but he went under the knife yesterday.
The England C cap said on social media: “Op went well. On the road to recovery now, can’t wait to get back playing.”
The Birmingham-born player is expected to be out for an extended period but the Fifers are reluctant to put a timescale on his return until he has been seen again by a specialist.
Meanwhile, manager Allan Johnston has praised former Rangers striker Nicky Clark after his first-half strike earned Dunfermline just a third league victory of the season at the weekend.
The 25-year-old grabbed his fifth goal for the Pars to give them a crucial 1-0 win over bottom side St Mirren and lift them above Dumbarton into eighth place.
Johnston told Pars TV: “Nicky’s a goal-scorer. If you’re going to put good balls into the box he’ll always be there or thereabouts.
“He was unlucky not to score near the end as well; I don’t know how it never went in.
“But it was a real team performance. The players once again showed a lot of character, a lot of determination and showed how much it meant to them.”
