Celtic pay more than double on wages than Rangers according to the 2016 Sporting Intelligence Global Sports Salaries Survey.
Brendan Rodgers’ players receive an average annual income of £717,860, with the Rangers squad each only taking in a basic pay of £316,888.
The survey, which considers the wages of nearly 10,000 sportsmen around the world in 17 leagues across seven sports, also suggests that Scottish Premiership clubs are some of the worst payers in world sport.
Seven SPFL Premiership sides occupy the bottom seven places among the 333 teams surveyed, with Hamilton’s average salary of £42,606 ensuring they prop up the list.
Manchester United spend the most on wages in football according to the survey, with players picking up an average of £5,770,000, but they are only fourth on the list behind the Cleveland Cavaliers (£6.5m), New York Yankees (£5.8m) and LA Clippers (5.7m)
The Hoops are down 11 places from last year to 192nd, with players collecting a weekly pay of £13,805.
And they are not far behind Champions League group rivals Borussia Monchengladbach, whose players earn an average yearly income of £975,093.
Rangers are listed at 244th ahead of Aberdeen back in 304th. Dons players are said to earn £134,670.
Hearts are at 314th, paying £86,890 with Dundee at 325th (£61,837).
Inverness, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Ross County, St Johnstone, Patrick Thistle and Hamilton then follow.
Celtic are 60th when it comes to comparing only football clubs, with Rangers 102nd.
