Falkirk defender Aaron Muirhead insists defender Grant Hanley is the best man for Scotland and his wedding.
The pair grew up together in Dumfries and Muirhead has chosen the Newcastle United player to play a key role on his big day in 2018.
But Hanley has a huge day of his own coming up on Friday with the centre-half set to line-up at Wembley against England in a crucial World Cup qualifier.
Former Blackburn player Hanley’s recent performances against Lithuania and Slovakia were called into question but Muirhead has backed the 24-year-old to deliver on and off the pitch.
Muirhead said: “I grew up with Grant and I speak to him most days.
“He came under a wee bit of criticism recently but I know myself as a defender that when the team is not winning, defenders or goalkeepers can get stick
“He got himself a good move and I’m chuffed for him, hopefully he plays on Friday and we get a good result.
“He’s also going to be the best man at my wedding so hopefully he does well.
“I’m proud of him being involved with Scotland, it’s a good achievement.
“He’s a young lad and has a fair few caps.”
