RED BULL LEIPZIG star Oliver Burke insists he is relishing the prospect of crossing swords with Rangers after a glamour friendly between the sides was confirmed.
Burke, the most expensive Scottish footballer of all time following his £13 million switch to the Bundesliga, is expected to be in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side to face the Gers at the Red Bull Stadium on January 15.
The 19-year-old has already been in the Scotland set-up alongside Lee Wallace and Barrie McKay and is steeling himself for a physical contest against Mark Warburton’s side.
“I think Rangers have some good individual talent in their team. I’ve been away with a few of them with the Scotland squad so I know that they are good players,” said Burke.
“It will be a first for me to play against Rangers and an interesting match.
“They are a big, big club in Scotland and in that division. I think it will be a really physical game and I would expect them to come over here and have a real go at us.
“It will be nice for Rangers to come over to Germany and a big occasion. The facilities over here are great and I would expect them to enjoy that.”
Burke has enjoyed a blistering start to his Leipzig career, claiming an assist on his debut to help them to a famous 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund before scoring his first goal for the club against Koln a fortnight later.
The Bundesliga new boys have been the story of the division this term and currently sit in second place, most recently beating Darmstadt 2-0 – with Burke climbing from the bench to set up the second goal of the game.
